Located at Kasarmitori in Downtown Helsinki, the German Library offers:

A collection of circa 40.000 books and magazines, information services, reading spots, German-language newspapers, interlibrary loans for other Finnish libraries and library tours for groups.

The German Library’s specialties are:


Literary science and linguistics

Magazines about literature, language and culture

History and knowledge of German-speaking countries

”Fennica” - A large collection of non-fiction books about Finland, and Finnish fiction translated into German

The German Library is open to the public and its services are free of charge. The library also provides guidance for groups, and organizes literary events.
